Associate Director of Fund Sales (Wholesaler) and Investor Relations

 

Flow Capital Corp. is a Toronto based, internally managed, publicly listed venture debt lender. We finance high growth companies in the US, the UK, and Canada to help them accelerate their growth without the dilutive effect of an equity issue or the difficulties associated with traditional lenders, such as banks. Our target market is revenue generating Venture Capital Investor sponsored or founder owned businesses seeking $2 to $10 million in capita. Since 2018, we have invested over $60M in 22 businesses, mostly SaaS and technology enabled companies, and have earned a annual portfolio level IRR in the high 20’s. We are looking to grow our portfolio in o the hundreds of millions over the next several years.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Associate Director of Fund Sales and Investor Relations, works as part of the financial team and will have national responsibility to raise the profile of Flow Capital with Institutional investors, Family Offices, UHNW investors, and CIRO (formerly IIROC) Investment Advisors. The primary objective is to increase sales of the company’s redeemable floating rate debentures, and the secondary objective is to generate awareness and investor interest in the company’s common shares.

We are looking for someone who is an experienced fund wholesaler who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys the sales process. Who is a demonstrated self starter, who finds ways to identify potential investors and intermediaries and to convert leads into new relationships.

The successful candidate will be expected to grow and manage a larger team as we scale our business.

Duties and Responsabilities

  • Establish regular contact with institutional investors, family offices, UHNW investors, and CIRO Investment Advisors.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1 meetings and presentations to communicate the attributes of Flow’s debentures and common shares.
  • Articulate Flow’s debenture and equity strategy crisply and effectively to investors and intermediaries, including describing new transaction activity. Both verbally and in written format.
  • Effectively leverage senior management in the sales process.
  • Develop broad understanding of the private credit and venture debt markets and of Flow’s position within those markets.
  • Understand similar investment products and effectively position Flow Capital within that mix.
  • Actively engage with senior management in the formulation of key messaging to the market
  • Identify new business opportunities and establish relationships accordingly.
  • Maintain and deepen investor and intermediary relationships through consistent and meaningful communication.
  • Respond to the specific needs of potential, new and existing Flow investors and intermediaries.
  • Provide senior management with investor and intermediary feedback, competitive intelligence, and sales ideas.
  • Develop, maintain and execute a business plan which includes trackable key performance indicators to achieve debenture sales objectives.
  • Effectively use Flow’s technology stack for debenture sales and investor relations.
  • Manage expenses appropriately, to ensure expenses are inline with sales achievements and forecasts. Including: co-op, travel, promotional items and entertainment.
  • Represent Flow at industry and intermediary events to grow awareness of Flow as an investment opportunity and as a provider of capital to growing SaaS businesses.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in quarter end activities and communications to investors and intermediaries.
  • Plan and be responsible for investor and intermediary events.

Requirements

  • A seasoned fund wholesaler with at least 3 years of experience and a demonstrated record of capital raising in the CIRO environment.
  • Understanding of investments, capital markets, and appropriate sales practices.
  • Excellent communication skills including both strong written and presentation abilities.
  • Technical skills and knowledge: CFA, CIM, or equivalent are all positives.
  • Commitment to continuous learning to enhance professional growth and effectiveness.
  • Extensive travel will be required for the role.
